MindMaze Seeking to Advance Humankind’s Capacity for Neurological Rehabilitation

Founded in 2012, MindMaze is a global leader in brain technology with a mission to accelerate humanity’s ability to recover, learn and adapt. The company has developed a platform for neurological rehabilitation and recovery of brain function after injury, stroke, and similar illnesses. With a collection of virtual reality products managed by healthcare professionals, the platform can help patients recover from brain injury and adapt to normal life.

Dr. Tej Tadi, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Mindmaze, studied electrical engineering before moving to Switzerland to pursue a postgraduate doctoral degree (Ph.D.) at the EPFL. While working at Swiss hospitals, he noticed that stroke victims were not fully recovering due to old traditional treatments. Diving into research, he focused on combining virtual reality (VR) and electoral neuroimaging. After this research, he realised it could be used commercially, and therefore founded the company Mindmaze.

Mindmaze has created a universal platform for brain health and recovery, by utilising unique digital therapeutic interventions. Now the company stands as one of the leading healthcare companies in the world. The company has partnered with over 74 clinics and centres worldwide, and their platform can be found at leading institutions such as Johns Hopkins University Hospital and Mount Sinai Health Systems.

Mindmaze’s product family — known as MindMotion —  includes two product devices. Mindmotion Go and Mindmotion PR have both been cleared by the FDA for in-clinic and home use.

MindMotion Go is a medical software device that you can easily plug into a home TV. The device is able to follow body movement using motion-tracking cameras, and handsets are not required when engaging in post-stroke exercise activities. On-screen, the wide range of therapeutic games provide motivating environments that encourage movement, strengthen muscles and help improve balance and coordination. MindMotion PRO is a specifically designed neurorehabilitation device intended for early bedside use, an aid to early rehabilitation. Both of the MindMotion devices contain seventeen games that are all designed to improve mobility and motor skills in patients with neurological conditions.

In February 2022, Mindmaze secured a $105 million financing round from leading investor Concord Health Partners. The company is seeking to expand its technological reach worldwide to advance humankind’s capacity for neurological rehabilitation.
